Product development ecosystem

The success of any design solution depends wholly on how well it is experienced by an end user. This is underlined by three key elements that form the ecosystem governing the design solution of any product.

End Users:

Who they are, their socio-cultural backgrounds, abilities and preferences.

Environment:

The spaces in which end users use the product, i.e. their homes, offices.

Technology:

End user sensibilities towards the use of technology, which is dependent on their socio-cultural backgrounds, abilities and preferences.

Our design process integrates end users, their environment and technology sensibilities to set a definite cause for a compelling product.

The design process consists of three distinct phases – Investigate, Innovate& Implement that address every aspect of product design from idea to implementation.

These phases have been designed keeping in mind our customer’s requirements for end to end design solutions.Additionally, we offer our customers the option to avail of our expertise in each phase independently, based on their needs.

Investigate:

Our design process commences with an in-depth investigation in to end-user preferences, environs, aspirations, needs & desires and behavior patterns. We map end user’s social and cultural environment to understand the surroundings in which they use products.

Our interdisciplinary team of designers and ethnographers undertake ethnographic studies, contextual inquiry,Participant observation, photo documentation, field notes, in depth interviews, group interviews, diaries and self documentation to understand user’s perspectives.

This phase also complements our industrial design activities by investigating the design intent at key stages in the design process through design evaluation and design validation. End users are involved directly in every aspect of the design process.

Innovate

Our multi disciplinary team of designers analyzes and internalizes the outcome of the investigate phase to first propose and next mature multiple design solutions. They use various brainstorming and creative techniques to achieve this.

Our team comes up with several proposals: innovation is a key component of every proposal. The proposals are then exposed to potential end users and valuable feedback captured via end user stimuli and consumer clinics.

A separate internal panel reviews these proposals before sharing them with the consumer.

Implement

In the implement phase, approved design concepts are taken forward for engineering design and validation using latest CAD & CAE tools, supported by a specialist team of highly experienced mechanical engineers.

Different materials are explored in this phase with a view to identify the most suitable one for a particular product.

A team of manufacturing experts and tool makers conducts manufacturing feasibility studies. All designs are validated using latest CAE tools to ensure the product meets required specifications and safety norms.Rapid Prototyping technologies such as SLA,SLS & FDM are used for testing and proving the design. These prototypes are tested for functionality and usage in consumer clinics before releasing final data to the customer.
